Partner Success Stories: NSi Teams with MegaPath and PlanetOne for a Winning Customer WiFi Experience
Social media has leveled the playing field, allowing small boutique stores, hotels and restaurants to compete effectively against major brands without large outlays of advertising dollars. The move has forced many major brands to reinvent the customer experience, finding and investing in new ways to engage with customers online before, during and after the sale.
One way in which business leaders are stepping up their game is offering customers free WiFi accompanied by a customized mobile app that serves up daily deals and rewards loyalty. Although it’s not a new tactic, Paul Wroten, President and CEO of NSi (Network Solutions International), a Global IT service provider that specializes in helping businesses use technology to reach their goals and exceed customer expectations, encourages big brands to draw in patrons and enhance the overall experience by using secure WiFi.
As a former Global IT Executive, Wroten speaks from decades of experience in customer service for several large IT organizations. His firm, NSi, has helped many established and emerging brands grow their business using a broad portfolio of voice, data, cloud and hosted solutions. One of the IT service provider’s most recent high-profile successes comes from a $4 million dollar Wi-Fi deal with one of the world’s largest casual dining companies.
Nearly nine months in the making, the multi-million dollar, national broadband win included outfitting 1,000+ restaurants with the bandwidth to deliver secure WiFi to customers at no cost and lay the groundwork to launch the company’s new mobile app while managing the day-to-day health of the multi-location wireless network.
To ensure the new project went as planned, NSi engaged with PlanetOne, which worked behind the scenes to ensure every detail of the deal and everyone working on the deal was in the right position to succeed. “We team with PlanetOne for all our large accounts because of their attention to detail and relentless focus on the customer,” said Wroten.
NSi looked to PlanetOne to recommend a preferred broadband provider for the project, and without hesitation selected MegaPath, marking the first business engagement between the two PlanetOne partners. “MegaPath is a market leader with an exceptional reputation for success in the restaurant industry and a longstanding relationship with PlanetOne – they were without question the best choice for NSi and this high-profile deal,” says Ted Schuman, Founder and CEO, PlanetOne.
Throughout the entire engagement, NSi, MegaPath and PlanetOne remained in lockstep. “Together, we persevered and stuck by the customer to build the right team and develop an economical, secure and scalable WiFi solution to meet their needs now and in the future,” explained Wroten.

Preferred Provider Spotlight: Aryaka Networks
SD-WAN has become a high-growth service opportunity for the IT channel and a breakthrough innovation that makes real-time connectivity a reality for businesses of all sizes. To ensure that it is providing its partners with access to best-of-breed SD-WAN solutions, PlanetOne recently expanded its portfolio of preferred providers, adding Aryaka Networks, the leading global SD-WAN provider.
The new alliance, formally announced in February, provides PlanetOne channel partners with an opportunity to deliver Aryaka’s global SD-WAN solution to enterprises, enabling them to replace their legacy MPLS connectivity worldwide. PlanetOne is pleased to be working with Aryaka on expanding its presence within the channel and capitalizing on the growing interest and demand for SD-WAN.
In commenting on the new alliance, Jim Hilbert, Chief Revenue Officer for Aryaka said, “As global businesses look to replace their legacy MPLS-based connectivity, they need a WAN solution that is quick to deploy, affordable to use, simple to manage, and offers performance improvements for all applications including SaaS – all this in addition to the reliability and consistency traditional MPLS users have come to expect. Aryaka’s global SD-WAN is the ideal MPLS replacement solution, and our partnership with PlanetOne will help us expand our market footprint and channel revenue.”
Tekcetera, a PlanetOne partner in Newport Beach, Calif., recently leveraged Aryaka Networks’ global SD-WAN solution in an international deployment for one of its large manufacturing clients.
“Aryaka is easy to work with, provides outstanding partner support and implements its SD-WAN solution quickly and efficiently. With so much choice in the market, its great to have PlanetOne connecting us with the industry’s best vendors.”
– John Pitts, Founder and President, Tekcetera.
Hilbert will take the stage along with a select group of his peers to discuss innovations, challenges and opportunities around SD-WAN during PlanetOne’s 2017 Tech Tour event in Newport Beach, Calif., taking place March 8 through 9. Employee Recognition: Tobey Schollmeyer
We are tremendously proud of our employees and value the contributions they make each and every day to help drive success for both PlanetOne and our partners. To help you learn more about the amazing team here at PlanetOne, we’ll be profiling a different employee in each of our newsletters. This quarter, we’d like you to get to know Tobey Schollmeyer, our Commissions Manager.
Tobey first joined PlanetOne in December 2012 in a partner support role. After learning more about PlanetOne’s operations, she started working with the auditing team on a part-time basis. This was a natural fit as prior to joining PlanetOne, Tobey worked in auditing. “I like the challenge that comes with looking for missing money,” she says.
In November of 2013, a full-time position as Commissions Manager opened up and Tobey jumped at the opportunity. Now, in this role Tobey receives all of the statements and reports from PlanetOne’s providers and uploads the information in the system to ensure that channel partners are getting paid what they are owed and that commissions aren’t falling through the cracks.
When asked what she loves most about working with PlanetOne Tobey responded, “We have an awesome team. I’ve never worked for a company where everyone is so genuinely helpful and works so well together. I also love the fact that we enjoy spending time with each other both at work and away from the office – I’ve made some great friends here.”
Tobey enjoys many activities in her spare time and especially loves spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking with her 10-year-old daughter. “We are a family that loves outdoor adventure, and someday I hope to be able to hike Havasu Falls,” she says. “I would also love to travel more – my favorite place that I’ve been so far was Jamaica.
Pets are also an important part of Tobey’s life and her family has two dogs, a cat and a lizard at home.
When asked what people might not realize, or find surprising about her, she said, “Partners who don’t know me already are often amazed when they hear my voice because they think of the name ‘Tobey’ as being a guy’s name, not a girl’s name.”
From the Heart: Spreading Cheer to Those Not Here
To celebrate our 25th anniversary, PlanetOne launched a program in November 2016 to help our community with actions that come “From the Heart.” As part of this program, each employee was given $250 to go forth and make the world a better place.
Because the holidays can be a particularly difficult time for our military troops who are stationed away from their families, some of our employees chose to use their funds in December to prepare care packages for the men and women of the armed services who are deployed overseas.
Click here to read more about how Team PlanetOne rallied around the goal of putting smiles on the faces of our hardworking military personnel and “spread some cheer to those not here.”
