From the CEO’s Desk
In today’s competitive market, business execution and the customer experience have to be everyone’s responsibility. From the front office to the back office, the entire team must bring their A-game and know how to effectively engage and communicate with customers and prospects.
When the doors opened at PlanetOne 25 years ago, I didn’t have all the answers. My one-page business plan was comprised of simple math, a #WorkHardPlayHard spirit and a steadfast commitment to doing the common things uncommonly well.
That simple statement — do the common things uncommonly well — has been foundational to our growth and the PlanetOne partner and provider experience. It set us apart then, continues to set us apart now, and will drive even further differentiation for us and our partners in the future.
As you look for ways to land more business and expand your base, be mindful of the small stuff – the common things that contribute greatly to the customer, partner, prospect and associate experience.
The whole adage of not sweating the small stuff is misguided. The small stuff is essential to scaling and achieving sustainable success. Take the time to teach your teams how to manage expectations and meet deadlines. Make returning phone calls the same day part of how business gets done. Answer emails within 24 hours and meet face-to-face whenever possible. These little differences build trust within a relationship and get us to the desired results faster and more frequently. Nobody has ever been yelled at for being too responsive, or for over-communicating progress on projects in play. The level of respect is immeasurable to those who make this level of commitment.

Cloud Services Distributor Finds Success in Teaming with PlanetOne
Since mid-2017, Cloudscape has been leveraging the master agent’s sales, marketing and back-office resources to scale its business within the enterprise space
After spending nearly two decades as a telecom agent, Jim Posilippo founded Cloudscape Technologies, LLC in 2012. Today, the company is a cloud technologies distributor specializing in the design, procurement and implementation of advanced data center and wide area networking (WAN) solutions. Cloudscape Technologies enables businesses to leverage public, private and managed cloud solutions to increase flexibility and scalability. Further, the company emphasizes the use of immersive collaboration technologies and advanced contact center solutions that drive growth through metrics.
Cloudscape Looks to Master Agent Community to Build Brand
While Posilippo had many years of experience in the telecom and cloud applications market, when he re-branded his company as Cloudscape Technologies in 2012, he found that he also needed to re-educate his partners and customers on the company’s focus and value proposition. “We wanted to be able to move upmarket and serve larger customers in the enterprise space,” said Posilippo. “However, going through the name change and bringing on new suppliers required us to engage with our customers in a new way.”
For help in developing the relationships that would also strengthen its brand, Cloudscape Technologies turned to the master agent community. “Top notch back office support in conjunction with the sales and marketing expertise we receive from PlanetOne has enabled our business to excel in the enterprise cloud application space,” continued Posilippo. “We were looking for a partner that could augment our back office and provide a consistent customer experience. PlanetOne has been an excellent fit for us.”
Shared ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ Mantra Drives Success
Cloudscape Technologies first engaged with PlanetOne in the Summer of 2017. Ross Thompson, National Channel Manager for PlanetOne Communications, said, “From the minute we met Jim and Cloudscape Technologies, we found that their culture aligned with ours perfectly, from both a business and personal standpoint. ‘Work hard, play hard’ is a mantra that both of our companies embrace wholeheartedly, and having the opportunity to partner with Jim and his team has created synergies that have helped to drive growth and success for both PlanetOne and Cloudscape.”
One the benefits that Cloudscape Technologies is reaping from its alliance with PlanetOne is in the relationship building department. “PlanetOne is able to open doors for our company,” said Posilippo. “Last Fall, I attended their year-end Tech Tour event in Scottsdale where I met with many of their partners and providers. It was a phenomenal experience – not only did Ross and the PlanetOne team go above and beyond to make introductions, they also added even more value by helping me frame the conversations I was having with their key providers. I ended up meeting a new provider that I’ve now added to my portfolio, and many of the conversations at that event have resulted in new or re-kindled relationships with PlanetOne’s providers.”
PlanetOne’s Back-Office Support Leads to Cost-Savings for Key Customer
Cloudscape Technologies is also leveraging PlanetOne’s back-office support. The company relies on the PlanetOne team for help in project management, pricing and guidance in everything from pre-sales support to post-sales support and implementation.
“The back-office support we’ve received from PlanetOne has made a huge difference in our business, and is perhaps the single biggest deciding factor for our teaming with PlanetOne,” said Posilippo. “They offer the full white-glove experience, engaging with us from the very start – from our initial discussions with the customer to the contract phase to installation. And, when it comes to commissions, their accuracy and response times are un-matched in the industry.”
Posilippo is finding that with PlanetOne, he and his team can keep projects on-track and on-time. Further, at the end of the day not only does it free him up to service and sell to his customers, it is also resulting in greater customer satisfaction. “I don’t have to spend time chasing things down, and any issues encountered by our team or our customers are always resolved quickly through PlanetOne’s escalation procedures,” said Posilippo.
Recently, PlanetOne’s support services helped Cloudscape Technologies close a big win, which also resulted in significant cost savings for the customer. “One of our customers is a large, high-technology security company that was looking to reduce their voice applications spend,” said Posilippo. “We brought PlanetOne in early in the process and through a cost-comparison they co-authored for our customer that included multiple carriers, we were able to save them over 20 percent annually on a large volume of spend.”
Posilippo added, “We couldn’t be happier teaming with PlanetOne. Their sales, marketing and back-office support services have allowed us to successfully scale our business and achieve our objective of adding more customers in the enterprise space.”

AT&T Product Highlight: AT&T NetBond
AT&T NetBond for Cloud connects business customers directly to the services offered by a growing ecosystem of leading cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Salesforce. It can also connect these providers to each other, through the same AT&T MPLS network.
It’s not just a one-to-one connection, it’s an integrated network that brings together data centers, public clouds and private clouds in a true hybrid environment. The cloud providers become a virtual extension of customer AT&T MPLS VPN, appearing as additional nodes on their network. They’re available via fast, highly-secure connections to any network user, and offer:
- Improved performance with highly available, low latency connections
- Highly secure, cloud-to-cloud connectivity for efficient data transfer between private and public clouds
- Reduced risk of DDoS attacks and other cyber threats with off-internet private connections
- Increased efficiency thanks to streamlined connections between different clouds

From the Heart: St. Marys Food Bank
Members of PlanetOne’s From the Heart team visited the St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance this week to lend their hand in feeding the needy in the local Phoenix community. St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance distributes 40,000 Emergency Food Boxes each month, at no cost, to individuals and families in need. A majority of those receiving Emergency Food Boxes include the elderly, children, working families and the homeless. At this facility there are 5 employees, and 90% are volunteers and there are certain organizations that volunteer on regular bases.
Maricela, Shawna, Jennifer and Chewy rolled up their sleeves and devoted an afternoon to volunteer to make their community a better place. The team made food bags for the homeless – a total of 8 pallets (72 bags per pallet) which included cups of soup, water, nuts, crackers, and sandwiches. This provides food for the homeless in the local community for about one week.
The mighty team’s take-away from their afternoon of hard work, “There is a steady line of people that rely on St. Mary’s Food Bank and this experience was very rewarding; we were touched and honored to be able to assist this organization that helps the homeless and needy families.”
Thanks to Maricela, Shawna, Jennifer and Chewy for your hard work and dedication to serving those less fortunate. This volunteer experience was truly From the Heart!
