From the CEO’s Desk
Bring on the Summer Sales!
You heard me say it in Q1 and I’m going to say it again here before the close of Q2…. We are going to CRUSH quota, again!
Some may say it’s pent up demand, but I doubt it, especially when spend is estimated to grow less than 10% globally. Why are we crushing it? Because together we’re selling results, and to borrow from Gartner’s John-David Lovelock (great name BTW), we are “fully participating in business value delivery.”
Today’s forward-thinking mid-market and enterprise businesses don’t see IT as an expense. They see our partners, the solutions they sell and the services they provide as a revenue driver. And nothing is going to stop us from helping you drive more revenue in 2021!
The PlanetOne resources you have at your disposal to strategize and sell are many and there’s more on the way – think SENTIENT!
Outside of tapping into the best sales and support teams in the business, our Brain Trust is changing the scorecard for of our partners AND our providers. If you haven’t watched our Explain IT, Action IT and soon to come ExperienceIT videos, you’re missing out.
And if you blew past the debut of PlanetOne Network News, watch the replay. There’s a ton of content on how to grow your revenue jammed into this fast format, and maybe the best news — it will take less than two hours to consume it.
For those of you who are open to traveling, I’m putting this out there – PlanetOne will be IN PERSON this month at IT Expo in Miami, in San Antonio in August at the upcoming XChange+ event. And we’ll be showing up in a big way at Channel Partners Expo in November. It’s going to be incredible as we’ve rented any and all poolside real estate at the hotel! Plus, we’ll be hosting some golf tournaments this Summer and Fall.
Last, and certainly not least, I am thrilled to welcome Karie Atwood to our executive team. Karie joins us with an impeccable reputation for excellence and shared drive to help our partners and providers play to win. Her role as VP of Supplier Management is hugely important to our mutual success and we cannot wait to execute all Karie has planned. Up and to the right is the sales goal we’ve all agreed to here at PlanetOne so let’s do this!

Employee Spotlight: Renee Schoedler, Dale Gatlin, and Jackie Martinez
At PlanetOne, we value the contributions our employees make to ensuring both our success and that of our providers and partners. In our newsletter each quarter, we shine a light on our amazing employees, and this quarter, Christi Clark, PlanetOne’s Vice President of Operations has selected three people from the PlanetOne Command Central team to recognize.
Editorial Staff: Christi, tell us about Command Central and what makes your team special?
Christi: I lead the Command Central team here at PlanetOne, and one of our competitive advantages is the sharing of “tribal knowledge” within our ranks. In this industry, there is so much to know, and it is nearly impossible for one person to have experienced every scenario we come up against over the course of a day, week or year. Our team has a secret word that any member can enter in the Microsoft Teams chat window when they have a problem they don’t know the answer to. That single word alone enacts an all-hands meeting where we all come together to help the team member out. It is important to the Command Central team that our partners know when they engage with PlanetOne, they are backed by the collective knowledge and wisdom of our entire organization. This is really what makes Command Central one of the best back-office teams in the industry!
Editorial Staff: Who are we shining the spotlight on this quarter?
Christi: Sometimes we get busy and forget to call out the outstanding work done by our team members in service to our partners and providers. As such, I’d like to take this opportunity to recognize not one, but three of our team members – Renee Schoedler, Director of Partner Services; Dale Gatlin, Partner Success Manager; and, Jackie Martinez, Senior Partner Success Manager. Recently, each of these women has been the recipient of a compliment sent to our leadership team that recognized something they have done, that goes above and beyond what was expected, to help one of our partners. I’m proud to be able to celebrate each of these women for providing best-in-class support, every day, and in their own unique ways. Congrats Ladies!
Editorial Staff: Can you share a little bit about the unique ways each of these women supports PlanetOne partners?
Christi: Of course! To begin with, Renee’s longevity in this industry has led to solid relationships with our providers. She is considered our “bulldog” and everyone knows this! She holds our providers accountable to ensure that they are accomplishing what is needed to ensure the success of our partners and their customers. Never one to hold back, she points out any problems that arise, and will work to ensure they are solved – as quicky and efficiently as possible. Dale is amazing in that she won’t let email slow her down. She will pick up the phone and keep on it until a situation is fully resolved. For her, verbal interaction is often the only way to get to the bottom of elevated situations. Sometimes it is like finding a needle in a haystack, but she never gives up! Jackie is a dialer and is great at reading people and their emotions. She recognizes right away when a partner is frustrated, and she knows the only way to get past the flurry of emails is to just DO IT HERSELF! When things start going in circles, which they sometimes do, Jackie is never afraid to jump feet first to get everyone on the same page.
Editorial Staff: Thank you for joining us, Christi! It was great to learn more about the PlanetOne Command Central team, and the contributions that Renee, Dale and Jackie are making to help drive success for PlanetOne, its partners and providers.

Winning with Mobility and IoT
James Green, National Mobility Channel Manager
Do not be afraid of engaging clients and prospects regarding mobility and IoT!
They are all using mobility, and buying it from someone or somewhere. Why not you?
There’s a major benefit to selling mobility solutions, including the IoT-based “smart” devices – think sensors, facial recognition, asset tracking, and more. It is a much shorter sales cycle, which means faster compensation payments to you! If you’re not selling mobility and IoT you are leaving money on the table.
RingCentral, 8×8, Vonage, and Masergy are examples of providers that offer great solutions for enabling mobility and IoT in the enterprise. Every opportunity you are engaged offers an “in” to bolt on for more revenue.
Here are some great conversation starters:
- Tell me about how your organization uses mobile devices and/or IoT solutions currently.
- Who currently owns these devices used by your organization? Are they company-owned? BYOD?
- What challenges is IT facing as they manage remote workforces, and mobile device security?
- Are there any initiatives or business planning regarding mobility I should know about?
- Who is responsible for handling mobility for the organization? How many people?
These are all areas of opportunity in every interaction you have with your clients and perspective clients.
They ALL carry a mobile device, but chances are you did not make any money from that purchase. That should fire you up!

From the Heart: Phoenix Children's Hospital
One of our favorite From the Heart initiatives here at PlanetOne is the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Over the years, our team has enjoyed creating Easter baskets for their Adolescent age group and more recently hosting a Virtual Happy Hour that resulted in 40 meals being served to the hardworking frontline Health Information Management staff at the hospital, during the pandemic.
This year, to celebrate our return to work, we hosted the “We’re Back Golf Tournament” at the Gainey Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale on May 18, which drew nearly 150 partners and providers for a day of in-person networking, fun, drinks, golf and prizes.
This unforgettable event culminated in a fundraising auction featuring a signed Pete Rose Jersey, won by Paul Wroten of NSi – Network Solutions international, and a football signed by Chris Berman and won by Brian Perdue from Zayo Group. The auction raised $2,500 which will be donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital is Arizona’s only children’s hospital recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals. For more than 35 years, Phoenix Children’s has provided world-class inpatient, outpatient, trauma, emergency and urgent care to children and families in Arizona and throughout the Southwest. As one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country, Phoenix Children’s delivers care across more than 75 pediatric specialties.
