Building on its Cloud 411 Program, PlanetOne establishes nationwide Cloud Practice to accelerate channel partners’ success in selling cloud services; Hires new Cloud Practice Manager Jim MacWilliam
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 10, 2016 — PlanetOne Communications, the IT and Telecom industry’s preferred connectivity partner, is expanding its focus on cloud services with the addition of a dedicated Cloud Practice. Born from the overnight success of PlanetOne’s Cloud 411 Program, the new practice focuses on enabling preferred vendors, agents and managed service providers (MSPs) to quickly identify cloud-ready sales opportunities, perfect the pitch, close the deal and blow the customer away with exceptional execution and ongoing service.
“Our cloud business has grown from five percent to 35 percent of our business over the last year,” said Ted Schuman, founder and CEO, PlanetOne. “We’ve closed record-setting deals with a number of our preferred partners including Megapath, Mitel and Rackspace, and motivated and inspired our channel partners to replicate this success and expand their business, expertise, reach and profits with cloud services.”
News of PlanetOne’s Cloud Practice comes just six months after the launch of the business enabler’s Cloud 411 program, which offers a centralized, online education and resource center, available exclusively to PlanetOne channel partners. To date, PlanetOne has managed and closed record cloud deals with its channel partners ranging in contract value from $4M to more than $60M, won deals against industry cloud heavyweights including Amazon and empowered partners to set new standards of excellence for prestigious clients including the San Diego Padres who are now the first MLB team to go all-in on cloud services.
As part of its business expansion, PlanetOne hired cloud services expert Jim MacWilliam. Serving partners in the role of Cloud Practice Manager, MacWilliam joins PlanetOne’s award-winning team with a dedicated focus on cloud sales and partner development. A millennial on a mission to empower channel partners with the business resources and technical expertise to support a “cloud-first” mentality, MacWilliam’s passion for cloud services excellence is easy to see and his experience with cloud-focused companies such as FusionStorm and Birch Communications brings tremendous business value to PlanetOne’s growing base of preferred vendors and channel partners. MacWilliam joined PlanetOne Communications in March 2016, making his debut at the firm’s 2016 Torrey Pines Tech Tour last month.
“Jim is a cloud rock star and our partners love his energy and commitment to exceeding their expectations,” said Lauren Shapiro, president, PlanetOne Communications. “Our new Cloud Practice is a natural evolution for PlanetOne, and a tremendously powerful business development and partner enablement resource for our channel partners. Our number one priority is ensuring the success of our people and our partners. This new practice is proven to do that and more.”
